Composite Fillings
Although composite fillings look absolutely fantastic, problems occur and one of the most common is pain and sensitivity immediately after having a filling made out of composite.
In some cases the pain and the sensitivity can continue and become so bad, that eventually the tooth requires a root canal treatment for extra cost. Then even after having a root canal treatment , the tooth then becomes weak and then you are required to have a permanent crown placed over the tooth in order to strengthen it. It may also be that you have had your old amalgam or silver fillings which have been in for many years replaced and composite fillings have been done. Even though you did not have problem at all with your old amalgam fillings, once the new composite or inlays have been placed, problems arise.
Problems can arise here with those especially if gaps occur between the teeth. Here the gap between one tooth and another tooth may cause food packing. In addition it can cause the gum to swell up and becomes very painful.
Sometimes the gap doesn’t even allow for dental floss and then that causes problems long-term causing advanced gum disease.
Tooth Whitening
Tooth whitening is a common cosmetic dentistry procedure however there are risks one of them being chemical burns from the tooth whitening gels.
The teeth whitening gel are usually made out of carbamide peroxide and when you are having your tooth whitening procedures done in the dental chair, your gums and lips need to be protected adequately because if they are not protected, the gel can cause painful burns into your gums or your lips.
In rare cases, this can even cause scarring.
Dental Crowns
Cosmetic dental crowns are often termed as Zirconia crowns or Cerec same day crowns. Problems can occur with these such as gaps and poor fitting.
This can cause pain and infection and in some cases a tooth might even need to be lost. Cerec and Zirconia crowns need to be carried out to a very high standard in order to be successful and they should last you many years.
Dental Implants
Dental implants replace a tooth or teeth which have been lost previously. However dental implants are not the best treatment for everyone and implants may fail. They can also become loose or become infected.
In addition some implants require bone grafting procedures which have their own additional risk. Even if the implants themselves are deemed successful, the teeth which go over the infants need to be as natural as possible. If the appearance of your final front teeth is poor than you may wonder why you went through all the treatment in the first place.
Porcelain and Composite Veneers
Porcelain and composite veneers are an important part of cosmetic dentistry procedures and often problems occur which can arise or lead to dental claims.
The final veneers may be not as you were promised at the start of your treatment.
